Just who are Silvermere EC?
A yard born from a dream to become a commended BHS Centre
Silvermere Equestrian Centre was opened back in 2005 with just 12 horses and ponies. Run by Lara and her husband, John, the couple sold their house to bring a dream to life and are so proud of the reality.
Being a British Horse Society Approved Centre means the standards have to be maintained and the yard was recently given a commendation by the BHS for yard, care and staff.
The yard now has over 30 horse and ponies in the school and we’ve taught thousands of clients of all ages and abilities all managed in our riding centre software.
We are continually working to develop and improve our facilities for the benefit of both clients, horses and staff, who are trained and guided to further progress their own skills and careers in the equine world.
Ken and Judy (Lara’s parents) purchased the farm in 1983 which had been run as a battery chicken farm for many years. Initially there were no stables or fields and just lots of chicken poo and giant stinging nettles running riot, but that was all going to change.
The main stable block was built in 1989 and the equestrian centre facilities started to take shape. Initially the yard ran as a livery yard until 2005 when Lara and her husband, Jon decided to sell their own home and setup the riding school.
As a family business they’ve continued to develop the business and improve facilities, adding a reception area, lecture room, additional stabling, resurfaced arenas, a solarium and improvements to the horses stables.
