Coming prepared

Anybody who has ridden before knows the benefits of preparation.

Giving yourself time

We ask that all riders are onsite and ready at least 10 minutes before their lesson is due to start. This is important for us, allowing time to handle any administration, future bookings and special needs such as horse selection or alterations.

Being around the yard

When you are at Silvermere, you are in a safe environment, but there are things such as machinery etc. that you may come across. We ask that when you are with us you follow the yard rules and stay in the client viewing areas or tacking up and mounting areas. This is for your own safety.

What to wear 

The right clothing is so important.  If this is your first time you don't need to have bought expensive jodhpurs or a hat but you do need to make sure that you are going to be comfortable.

We do not recommend:

  • Jeans, as the seams can rub inside the thigh
  • Tight clothing or jackets, as you need to be able to move freely
  • Jewellery, you should remove items of jewellery as they may be broken i.e necklaces

We do recommend:

  • Boots with a heel, i.e dealer boots

We provide:

  • safety hats that meet the current legal standards
  • a selection of boots suitable for riding but cannot guarantee sizes to fit.
